Tape Transfer Collage, Temporary Tattoo
2024
The work consists of three tape-transfer collages representing distinct periods shaped by life in the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. Each collage merges fragments of place, cultural, spatial, and personal, suggesting how location informs and reshapes identity. In the tape-transfer process images are lifted, displaced, and recontextualized. This physical movement parallels the experience of relocation, where identity is continually reassembled within new environments.
Accompanying the collages, a video documents the gradual removal of temporary tattooed versions of these images from the skin. By transferring the collages onto the body, place is rendered intimate and embodied. The erasure emphasizes impermanence, transformation, and the ongoing dynamic between belonging and change.
