One Woman's Hell is Another Man's Pleasure

A reimagining of Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell, highlighting the exploitative history of hysteria documented at Hôpital de la Salpêtrière which was used by Rodin as inspiration for the figures on his sculpture. The installation aims to translate the sculpture into present day where women's mental illness is continually sexualized and exploited in cinema.
